I had to have an a/c repairman service one of our air handlers this morning, so I worked on the plane while I waited for him. My first task was to "dry out" the beads in the dehydrator plugs in my engine. I used a heat gun and it seemed to work pretty well. I then marked and drilled the side vents. I was only going to proseal them into place, but since I had already painted the interior of the fuselage, I wanted to make sure that they stayed in place should I not get the area thoroughly clean prior to sealing. I still need to fabricate thin, aluminum "backing plates" for the pulled rivets I plan to use. I also need to dimple the holes in the fuse after I final drill them to #30 and countersink the vents. I will probably use FeatherFill or the like to hide the pulled rivets before painting. With any luck, I will get to work on the plane again tonight after work!
