Brief Description:  Brake Lines Installed

Dad called last night and said that he had found my kitlog. He wanted to know why I hadn't done anything on the plane since June (last time I uploaded a log). That "shamed" me into getting out into the garage early this morning to beat the heat. I have the day off, since I worked sixteen hours yesterday. I started working on the brake lines again. These things were a pain in my neck when it came to the brass ferrules. I think I finally figured out the secret on the very last one and that is keep the tubing warm and use the nut to push the ferrule into position. I placed the end of the warm tubing on a piece of scrap aluminum and pushed down. I actually got one ferrule too low and couldn't get it to move back. Like I said, a pain in my neck. The next headache was also self-induced. I couldn't for the life of me find the AN960-716 washers for the AN fittings that attach the stainless steel brake lines at the firewall. For some reason, I thought that they were the thick aluminum washers. I started to order some from Aircraft Spruce, but decided to wait until Sunday to place an order because I'm sure I'll find something else I need before then and one order cuts down on shipping costs. I sent a picture to Joe of the plans and when he got home he sent a picture of the washers back and asked how many I needed. Turns out, I had them and was just looking for the wrong thing. Story of my day.
