Brief Description:  Strobe Powerpack and ELT Mounts

Not much work done on the RV today. I flew the Cessna this morning and it was such a beautiful day I decided to head to the west coast of FL. I came back and did a little yard work until UPS arrived with the mounting plates. These things are going to be a pain in the neck. I slid them into place and marked the outline. I then removed the F-706 Bulkhead and the lower-most J-Stringer. I drilled the four pre-existing holes to #30 and then reinstalled the J-Stringer and plate. I marked the location of the four upper holes on the upper J-Stringer and then drilled through the stringer into the mounting plate. I have no idea how I am going to rivet these plates to the stringers as neither of my rivet pullers fit between the lower J-Stringer and the curve in the bottom of the side skin.

On an equally unpleasant note, I was reading another build log (I think it was Brad Oliver's rv7factory.com) and apparently the bolt hole in the crotch strap mounting plates needs to be lower than the plans call for if you use Hooker harnesses. I unfortunately drilled the holes in the standard location. I really don't want to purchase my harnesses yet to see if I need to move the hole lower. If I move the hole lower, I will probably need to rivet a reinforcement plate over the first hole. This would be a heck of a lot easier to do now, before they are installed.
