Brief Description: Prime Rudder Skeleton, More Elevator Stiffeners
I finished priming the rudder skeleton and began riveting the assembly. I installed the reinforcement plates and platenuts on the spar and then riveted the R-904 rib, Rudder Horn, Horn Brace and shim to the spar. I was able to squeeze all of the rivets by using the longeron yoke. I riveted the R-912 counterbalance rib to the spar and then riveted the counterbalance skin to the counterbalance rib, making sure that I didn't rivet the skin to the spar. I installed the counterbalance weight but had some issues with not being able to determine when my torque wrench was "breaking." I will try again tomorrow. If the screws are over torqued I will pitch them and order two more. I set the assembly to the side and went back to work on the elevator stiffeners. I finished the edges of the stiffeners that I had previously cut. I received confirmation from Van's that my order containing the missing E-720H5 (Not Van's fault. I purchased a previously owned kit and somewhere along the way the angle went MIA) will arrive on February 1 so I can cut the remaining "H stiffeners." I clecoed the stiffeners to the right elevator and drilled them to the skin. I checked to make sure that the E-702 spar fit without interference from the stiffeners. So far, so good.
