Brief Description:  Finish Vertical Stabilizer, Back-Rivet Rudder Skin

Started out the day with a trip to the paint store to get the spray issue I encountered yesterday corrected. Returned home and finished priming the rudder skins. I finished riveting the skin to the vertical stabilizer and then clecoed on the rear spar assembly and squeezed the remainder of the rivets in the VS. I had difficulty with the squeezer in the area of the VS-411PP hinge bracket so I bucked those rivets. I blind riveted the rear spar assembly to VS-707 and thus completed my "first major sub-assembly" of my airplane. The horizontal stabilizer is ready for final assembly but I still want an experienced builder to check my work before I close it up. I clecoed the R-902 spar and the R-916 traiing edge to the skins to check the length of the rudder stiffeners prior to riveting. If by some chance they were long, I wanted to know while I could still correct them. They fit perfectly so I back-riveted the stiffeners to the rudder skin. I used Scotch Removable Tape (811, blue box). By starting at the bottom of the skin (the longest stiffener), I only had to use one piece of tape for each side. I am sure my frugality must have saved me at least a nickel (insert sarcasm here). The rivets turned out well. It's most unfortunate that I can't squeeze and back rivet the entire plane! I fabricated the R-917 Shim per DWG 7 and decided to call it a day.
