It seems there are several big and memorable days in the life of a builder. One surely must be the first time all of the instruments are installed in the panel.
Well, Saturday Aug 8, 2104 is that day!!
Finished assembling the new radio stack brackets with the GTR 200 radio tray, and test fitted to the back side of the instrument panel, the (10) #40 holes aligned quite nicely, (5) per side that attach the bracket to the back side of the panel.
Carefully riveted the bracket assembly to the instrument panel. The first AN426-3 rivet I placed was raised a bit, so I carefully drilled it out, and re-did, again, and again - 3 times the rivet was raised. Ok - what am doing wrong here? I changed out the squeezer from my small to large squeezer, and changed the dies to the large set, problem solved, proceeded to squeeze the remaining 9 rivets with no issue.
Attached the GDU 460 bracket via clecoe, then match drilled #40 the mounting bracket holes from the reverse side, removed, deburred, countersunk the panel side, then riveted the bracket using AN426-3 rivets.
Installed the panel into the airframe, and installed the instruments...
