Brief Description:  Instrument Panel CNC Planning

I've got so many parts that have arrived, no shortage of things to work on... A friend, Jeremy Casey, has a CNC machine in his garage that he built, and just as importantly, knows how to use!

Met with Jeremy to review all of the plans for the instrument panel, getting the missing dimensions needed to the CNC program to know what to do. I've no experience with CNC programming or machines, but soon figured out some of the basic information that is essential for the program to operate as desired... things such as:

• The bezel and hole cut out sizes of all instruments
• The depth behind the panel of all instruments
• The mounting requirements of all instruments - e.g. the GTR 200 Radio has a mounting kit with a tray, but you have to build something to hold the tray.
• The Airgizmo mount for the GPSMAP496 has mounting holes, and can be mounted flush or not.
• The GMC 305 has an overlapping bezel on the left and right sides, whereas the GPSMAP 496 and GTR 200 do not. All three have 6.25 " width, though the hole cut out for the GMC 305 is less than 6.25 ".

• The GDU 460 (the big TV screen in the middle) has a rectangular Mount bracket with nut plates in the corners.

• The Compass (Panel mount) is the standard 2.25" round hole and mounting screw locations.
• The Dynon Skyview D6 will mount in a standard 3.125 " round hole.
• The 3 Legend lights mount in a 16 mm round whole above the GDU 460 (G3X touch).
