Decided to mount the ELT remote switch on the right side of the instrument panel, just above the start switch and the 2 USB 2A circuit breakers. I had not considered at any time where this switch would be mounted, in fact I gave little consideration to the ELT all until finding that I needed to install it as part of wiring the aircraft.
Of course, the hole to be cut in the panel is .5" by 1.5" rectangle. Why they could not make it a standard 2.25" round switch is really a good question, I can cut a round hole pretty well, but a rectangle hole, in a panel that is not coming out, is going to be fun.
• Made a template for the remote switch, used the template to locate the holes for the four screws. • Marked and then drilled #40 holes for the remote switch. • Test fitted the remote switch to the panel to ensure the four holes align between the panel and switch.
