Brief Description:  Alternator Belt Installation

So, before I install the prop, which is necessary to align the spinner to the center line (so it does not wobble), it is desirable to install the alternator belt. Purchased a Gates Belt from the aviation section of AutoZone, it's your standard V-Belt. After removing the ring gear, my A&P said something like ' I do notice something...' which is his way of saying you must fix this. The prop flange bushings exhibited some corrosion. To remedy, sprayed with LP-2 and carefully re-tapped, which cleaned the bushings quite nicely. A&P said if this was not done now, removing the bolts later when the prop needed servicing (or the alt belt), would be a major PITA.

Marked the oversize bushing to make it obvious how to reinstall the ring gear.

Wrapped the new belt around the alternator and the fly wheel on the aft side of the ring gear, then stretched the belt enough to get the ring gear back onto the bushings. No point in tensioning the belt until I get the prop installed.
