Brief Description:  Engine Control Quadrant Install

Cabin all painted and sufficiently dry for carefully working inside the cabin. Install of the engine control quadrant is next.

I had fully disassembled the control cables - nut, washers, dust covers, etc., now have to remember how it goes back together, as well as remember the sequence of installing the various hardware bits for securing the cables through the firewall.

Through a bit of trial and error, managed to get the cables through the firewall into the cabin for the quadrant for connecting to the quadrant.
• Marked each cable so I would not connect the throttle cable to the mixture lever, etc.
• Installed the lock nut on each cable
• Slid the quadrant bracket on to the three cables, the bracket is already attached to the side console with the quadrant.
• Installed the lock washer and locking nut on each cable.
• Installed the rubber dust jacket and nipple on each cable.
• Adjusted the lock nuts about half-way on to the threaded portion of each cable - just a guess at this point.
• Installed a jam nut on to each cable for securing the clevis fittings which are attached to each control lever,
• Starting with the prop governor cable, because it was a bit easier to get to, screwed the cable into the clevis fitting all the way to the jam nut.
• Repeated the same procedure for the throttle cable.
• When I attempted to screw the mixture cable into its clevis fitting, proved to be challenging due to lack of enough space to grasp the cable. So, exited the cabin and twisted the cable from the FWF side, quite easily... should have done all three this way.

Now you can move the throttle, mixture and prop governor cables from the engine control quadrant!!
