Brief Description:  Engine Install - Getting everything ready

In the afternoon, decided to proceed with getting the engine ready to install on the airframe. In the life of a homebuilder, this is a pretty exciting moment in the build process.

Borrowed the engine lift from my A&P Rick Hammonds. Got some good advice from an all-around mechanic friend, Ben Martson, and well, a host of other 'characters'. There's something about installing an engine that brings out everyone around the airport!

• Positioned the airframe diagonally so the engine lift did not have to travel over the hanger door tracks.
• Positioned the lift aligned with the airframe and engine mount.
• With help from friends, position the engine near the lift so it weas possible to hook the carbiner to the lift hook previously installed on the engine.
• Carefully raised the engine as it was not centered under the hook at first.
• Removed the plastic wrap on the engine.
• This was the first opportunity to visually inspect the engine. The Bendix fuel servo was removed for shipping, covered the open hole in the sump and covered the open exhaust ports.
