Continued with preparing the canopy skirt for applying some epoxy and peel-ply. The left side leading edge need a repair after the vertical part of the fiberglass shim departed the skirt. Turns out it looks like I did not apply very much epoxy to the inside of the skirt.
The blind rivets for the canopy skirt are flush, but the countersink in the fiberglass skin is light, leaving a bit of the rivet exposed. Filed the rivets flush with the canopy skin. Used a mixture of epoxy and micro balloons to fill the blind rivet holes and smooth out some imperfections in the canopy skins as received from Vans.
Sanded the shim, and inside of the skirt, cleaned both, and epoxied once again, using a liberal amount, and clamped tightly.
I need to fabricate a fiberglass cover to the rear most portion of the canopy skirt that covers the hole where the rail exits the canopy. I plan to create a mold using modelers clay, and lay up a basic form that I can sand down to the needed final shape and epoxy in place.
