Brief Description:  Canopy Skirt Customizing

I finally see how to proceed with finishing the canopy skirt and windscreen fairing. It basically requires making sure the canopy skirt is customized a bit at the leading edge where it contacts the forward top skin that wraps around the windscreen weldment.

Currently, the fiberglass canopy skirt on both sides bows out about 1/8" at the bottom of the skirt. There is not enough material in the skirt to sand this down to work without adding some fiberglass to the inside of the skirts on both sides. I have extra fiberglass material from trimming the skirts a long time ago (rarely throw anything away!), so I used some scrap fiberglass strips to measure how much fiberglass shim I need to make, then cut some strips based on those measurements, then epoxied the strips together and to the inside of the canopy skirts at the leading edges, and on the bottom edge in common with the leading edge.

Also, the trailing edges of the canopy skirts where the two halves meet, filled a gap with extra fiberglass strip and epoxy, and will complete with a mixture of micro balloons and epoxy later.
