Brief Description: New SafeAir Static - Pitot - AOA system
|
|
Purchased the SafeAir Static - Pitot - AOA system from Avery Tools, mostly because I need the connectors for having 2 EFIS systems, requiring Static, Pitot and AOA.
Primary EFIS is the Garmin GDU 460, backup EFIS is a Dynon D6 - spreading the love a bit.
The SafeAir system is very nice - check it out if you have not committed to a Static - Pitot - AOA system. The kit contains color coded lines for Static - Opaque, Pitot - Blue, AOA - Green, and about 30 connectors which feature quick connect/disconnect. You do need a clean cutting tool to cut the lines, SafeAir recommends one sourced from Sears, it was ~ $16.
• Removed the existing static line I originally installed from Van's. • Removed the static ports installed on the left and right side of the fuse. • The new static ports are much larger in diameter, and fit on the inside of the fuse, so I had to measure to make sure there was not interference with structure - fortunately none present. • Fabricated a bracket, primed and painted to hold a T Connector, which accepts the static lines form the left and right port, and the static line that runs forward to behind the instrument panel.
I will be bonding the ports to the inside of the fuse skin using Loctite Weld.
