Brief Description: Fuel Tank Attach Bracket work in progress
After many, many days of trying to get the Fuel Tank Attach bracket to sit flush with the fuse and tank bracket, I gave up. Ok, not really gave up, I just realized I could continue to attempt the same method again and again, with absolutely no confidence I was ever going to get the brackets to sit flush as required.
So, another post to VAF and quickly got a reply with a suggestion from someone who use a mixture of epoxy and cabosil to create a flush fitting gasket for the Fuel Tank Attach Brackets. I got some cabosil from Aircraft Spruce, way more than I needed, mixed with some West Epoxy. A few trial batches led me to understand you do not need nearly as much as you might use for microballons to create a mixture which does not run at all. The advantage of Cabosil is that it creates a surface that is very robust.
Used the cabosil / epoxy mixture on the fuel tank attach brackets and clamped them in place. I had previously located the pilot holes for the two AN3 bolts used to attach the brackets to the fuse. I used clear packing tape on the fuse, then smashed the brackets into place with the cabosil / epoxy mixture squeezing out the sides.
