Brief Description: Empennage Fairing - Lower Cover Plate
Proceeded with match drilling the lower empennage cover plate which covers the EL horn. Platenuts will be installed on the airframe for the four lower holes, for the 4 upper holes, these are in common with a longeron, which is matched drilled, then tapped for a #6 screw. In fact, all of the holes in the lower fairing, which is aluminum which are in common with the longeron, are drill and tapped for a #6 screw.
The leading edge of the upper and lower empennage fairings are screwed to the airframe, with platenuts attached to the airframe. The upper empennage (fiberglass) is countersunk for the #6 screw, the lower (aluminum) is dimpled. The platenut rivets will be flush, so the #40 holes will be dimpled, and the #6 screw hole will be dimpled for the lower fairing, but flush for the upper fairing.
