Brief Description:  Left Wheel Pant and Gear Leg Installation

Finished assembly of the left wheel pant fairing, riveting the U808 bracket in place, countersinking the AN509 holes on the inboard side for the four AN50 screws in common with the U807 bracket on the inboard side.

Next step is to make the intersection fairings between the wheel pant fairing and the gear leg fairing. The intersection fairing must be laid up in place with the gear leg and wheel pant fairings installed. To install the gear leg fairing, there is a pin that runs through a hinge on the aft side of the fairing. The pin cannot be installed (or removed) with the wheel/tire on the plane. I'll need the ability to remove the wheel/tire periodically going forward (new tubes, tires, brakes, etc.). I found a 2-ton hydraulic jack at Wal-Mart for 18.88 that is 5.25 inches at the lowest point, and the bottom of the gear leg is 5.5 inches from the floor. Found that by removing the wheels from the jack, I can get the lifting pad under the gear leg flat spot, and lift the plane (and tire/wheel) off the ground.

After removing the wheel/tire, I installed the gear leg fairing (left and right).
