Brief Description:  Locating Rivets for Bottom Cowl Camloc Tabs

After locating the camloc tabs on the right and left side bottom cowl, used the rivet fan to locate the rivets for the cowl to camloc tabs at 1.125" spacing.

Because the bottom cowl wants to bow outward from the engine, and the tabs to be riveted to the bottom side cowl will want to naturally be on outside of the top side cowl, instead of the inside where they belong, I started thinking about what I can do add some support/structure to the bottom cowl side near the split line. I have some light alum angle, 48", so decided to see if it was feasible to use this angle to provide some support.

Cut the alum angle in half, and determined this was a good start point to use for both the left and right side cowl. Butted the alum angle up against the bottom of the camloc tabs, and clecoed in place with side clamps. This removed the tendency of the bottom cowl to bow outwards.

Again used the rivet fan to locate holes for drilling to attach the alum angle to the cowl. Performed some custom work [filling] on the alum angle removing sharp ends and creating 45 degree cuts.

I don't know yet if I will end up using these after the tabs are rivets, but they have to help hold the bottom cowl in place while riveting the tabs.
