Brief Description: Ailern Trim System Installation
Since I really have no idea if first flight will produce a heavy wing, etc. I am installing the manual aileron trim system supplied by Van’s. This is a spring-based system that enables the pilot the shift the effort a bit in rolling the aircraft. It is controlled by a lever mounted on the left side of the fuse behind the throttle quadrant and actuates via a cable going under the floor connected to a rod that moves left-right. The rod has two springs connected to each side of the main control tube. The springs sounds horrible when the control is moved, but everyone assures me this is normal and not notice once the engine is running, etc.
Assembled the actuator lever per plans and installed in the fuse. The actuator rod and springs installed next, and the bolt connecting the actuator cable to the rod is drilled to accept the cable. The cable was installed, and AN nut and washer installed to hold the cable in place.
