Brief Description:  Weight and Balance

Today performed the weight and balance. First I de-fueled the right wing (left wing previously done) and performed the fuel flow test at the same time by disconnecting the fuel line at the firewall, reconnecting a spare hose of the same diameter, and running the boost fuel pump to drain the tank into 5 gallon containers. 5 gallons in 6.5 minutes equates to 46.158385 GPH. Aircraft was position uphill on the ramp with the mains on wood blocks.

I was fortunate to borrow scales from Charlie Sikes typically used for race cars. Placed the scales as labelled for the LF, RF, and RR leaving the LR unweighted, Reset the scales to zero, the 'rolled' the mains on to the LF and RF scales, then lifted the tail wheel onto the RR scale. Total weight came out to 1104 pounds, 529 LF, 532 RF and 43 on the tail, sort of in the middle of the Van's spec of 1067 - 1120.

Monday Aug 26 is the Pitot - Static system test at Stark Avionics across the field. DAR inspection tentively scheduled for Fri Aug 30 with Vern Darley out of FFC (Peachtree City, GA).
