Brief Description:  Wing Access Panels

Proceeded with installing the six access panels for the bottom side of the wings. For no reason started with the outboard left wing and proceeded inboard, then kept going on the right side starting with the inboard panel working towards the outboard.

All proceeded as expected until I got to the last panel, to be installed on the outboard right wing. I found the panel had been mistakenly dilled for nutplates... I just had to laugh as I was sure I had progressed past the stage of discovering required re-work. Fortunately, I have some aluminum sheet of the same thickness, so I traced the shape and cut a new panel. Using the original panel as a template located the screw holes, marked and drilled the new panel. Clecoed the two panels and used a file to get the final shape of the new panel. I then dimpled the screw holes in the new panel and attempted to fit on the wing, but something was not working...

I found the incorrect nutplates were riveted to the flange of the wing, too small (K1000-6) where the K1100-8 are called for the flush screw. Proceeded with slowly drilling out the rivets for the eight nutplates, drilling the screw holes for the #8 screw, deburring and dimpling the flange. I was then able to install the new access panel to the right wing.
