Brief Description: Control Stick Installation
|

Installed the aft control stick. I previously drilled the control tube two holes and inserted snap bushings for a cable tie to hold the d-sub connector for the PTT connection. Threaded the cable tie through the snap bushing top hole, grabbed the cable tie on the inside with needle nose pliers, and turned the cable tie to insert and exit the bottom hole.
Placed the d-sub connector so the mid-point (where they connect) is between the two parts of the cable tie, then zipped them together. This securely holds the male/female d-sub connectors in place on the side of the control tube.
For the front control stick, I forgot to add the Ray Allen stick grip when I previously wired the stick. After some time trying to de-pin the d-sub connector, it just did not cooperate. So, I verified wire length and just cut off the existing d-dub connector right at the base sacrificing the d-sub. Removed the wire from the control stick, installed the stick grip, then using safety wire, pulled each wire through the stick from the top to the exit hole near the bottom. Each wire is labelled to ensure they got pinned correctly. Stripped and pinned each wire with female pins, then carefully inserted each pin into a new 9-pin d-dub connector.
Installed the forward control stick into the fuse connecting to the control tube and used the same process as the aft control stick to connect the d-subs, attached to the control tube via cable tie routed through the control tube (snap bushings and cable tie).
