Continued to trim the right-side flap skin and raise the flap a bit to determine how much to trim. Finally got the flap to sit nicely almost flush with the fuse on the bottom of the airframe. Basically, just a manual process of attempting to raise the flap to full raised position and stopping when contact was made, determining the cause and the fix, trimming something, and trying again.
Lost count how many times I removed the flap, got to where removing and inserting the pin for the flap hinge was a non-event.
