Brief Description:  Wing Alignment Continued

After trying to move the wings forward enough to rid the alignment of any sweep, it became apparent a bit more oomph was needed if just one person was going to move the wing, check the alignment, remeasure the distance to the rear, etc. Van's says to do these things simultaneously, that's a clue that more than one person would be helpful.

Lacking a helper this evening, I arrived at the idea of using ratchet tie downs, wrapped around the wing spar web, and the hanger door horizontal support. TO do this, I checked the airframe well, and placed by lead ballast on the tail wheel. By slowly cranking the ratchets, I could slowly move the wing forward to virtually eliminate the rear sweep.

After rechecking the distance from the wing id point at the outboard edge to the central point at the VS, ensure the distance was the same...

Secured the rear wing spar to the rear wing spar tabs, to release the ratchet straps, then re-measured to make sure nothing shifted. Marked the location on the rear wing spar tabs for the proper wing alignment.

Next will be leveling the fuse to measure the all-important wing incident angle. Once this is done, I have to ensure there will be at least 5/8" edge distance available once I drill the hole in the rear wing spar through the spar tabs.
