Brief Description:  GPSNAV and GDU GPS 26C Antennas

After much mental gymnastics regarding the location of the GPS antennas for the GPSNAV 496, and the GDU 460... Considered these locations: (1) mounted on a custom bracket mounted forward of the firewall, connected to the engine mount. (2) mounted forward of the windscreen, aft of the baggage compartment, (3) mounted aft of the rear seat on the fuse, (4) mounted on the glare shield.

Chose the glare shield because it seemed easiest to accomplish and the other locations present routing issues, and seemed no better for sat reception.

Created a template for the (2) mounting holes and the BNC connector pass-through, which requires slightly more the .75 " diameter hole. Located the holes for the antennas equal distance from the glare shield center line, ~ 6" apart per Garmin guidelines. Deburred all holes, using a unibit for the '75" hole. Installed the 25C antennas on the glare shield, passing the attached BNC connector through the .75" hole into the avionics bay. There was much excess antenna wire, so bunched this together and secured using cable ties to the stiffeners on the forward skin.

Connected the BNCs to the GPSNAV496 and the GDU 460.
