Brief Description:  Main Gear Leg Fairing Fabrication

Proceeded with locating the hinge inside the main gear leg fairing. I placed the main gear leg fairing on the gear leg, and tape the trailing edge closed after inserting the hinge. I then held the hinge as far aft as possible without distorting the fiberglass fairing. I had previously marked the hinge for the rivet holes (rivet fan and sharpie), so I transferred the marks to the fiberglass fairing while the hinge was properly located.

I removed the fairing and placed on the work bench, with the hinge clamped into place at both ends inside the fairing aligned to the hole markings previously transferred. Starting at one end, I drilled the first #40 hole through the fairing and the hinge. Clecoed this, and proceeded down the fairing, drill, disassembled, - then - countersunk the fairing for the AN4263-3.5 rivets, deburred the hinge, clecoe and rivet. After completing one side, flipped it over and repeated.

Performed the same for the remaining gear leg fairing.

After riveting, test fitted around the gear legs, and closed the fairing hinge together with no issues. I did not insert the pin, it appears the pin cannot be inserted unless the wheel is removed... Not sure if this is right, the it just appears the amount of bend necessary to clear the wheel is more than can be sustained.
