Brief Description: Fitting the Top and Bottom Cowl
Ordered Cam Locs from Skybolt Aeromotive, Leesburg FL. In the week I was in Vegas for work, they arrived. Once again I am thrown into the un-expected; there are numerous parts and a new tool to sort out. Fortunately there are some basic instructions thrown in as well.
The complete RV-8 Skybolt kit contains 52 cam locs, 50 for the cowl fasteners, and 2 for the oil door. Following the Van's instructions, laid the top cowl in place where the cowl face is ~ 1/8+" spacing to the spinner bulkhead.
Brought up the lower cowl where the sides overlap the top cowl, and brought forward to attempt to join the top and bottom at the front fresh air inlets. It is obvious this is going to need a bit of trimming and sanding to get a good clean flush fit between the top and bottom cowl.
