Brief Description:  Baggage Door Completion

Keith Owens stopped by the hanger today, and offered to help with finishing the baggage door. This is door #2, the first door I mangled the trailing edge past redemption while trying to get the door skin flush with the fuse. Keith ran the rivet gun; I worked the bucking bar from inside the fuse. Keith did a fine job; no skin was damaged during the whole process.

While the baggage door was strapped in place, riveted the forward rib to the door skin. With the aft for forward rib riveted, riveted as much of the cabinet lock support rib as possible.

Remove the door, and completed riveting the lock support rib, back riveting.

Riveted the hinge support and hinge to the top of the door, hand squeezed.

At this point, all of the rivets were set relative to the door skin in common with all of the ribs, leaving only the interior skin to be rivet.

Installed the interior skin on the door, no clecoes or rivets at this point.

Re-Installed the door on the fuse, and strapped again so the door skin was flush with the fuse skin. Clecoed the interior skin to the ribs, final drilled to #30 and then removed all. Using scotch brite pad deburred final drilled holes in the ribs and deburred interior skin holes. Re-Installed skin with clecoes on the fuse, and strapped in place.

Riveted the interior skin of the baggage from inside the fuse, using pneumatic puller.

This door fits much better than my first attempt. I think when I drill the pin blocks and install, I will be able to have a nice fitting door as the pins will pull the door into final place without much pressure.
