Brief Description:  Panel Adjustment Planning

So, the mental gymnastics continue relative to use the existing panel with mods, or cut a new panel. To cut a new panel, I need to ask Jeremy if he has the inclination to do a re-do on his CNC machine... I kind of hate to do that though I think he would not mind and might again enjoy working on the project.

I decided to start the mod on this panel, since I can. Drilled the AN426-3 rivets holding the two brackets for the GTR 200 / GPS 496 / GMC 305, because these will be replaced or modified. I was never super happy with the choice of riveting the brackets to the panel in the first place.

Decided to use instrument screws instead and installed plate nuts on the back side of each bracket, counter sinking the brackets for the plate nut rivets. I have no .25" instrument screws, so I just mocked with the .5" ones on hand to make sure it all lines up and works well. More satisfied with the result and at least I can mod the brackets at any time now.

Also changed the attachment method for the GTR 20 remote radio, it was suspended and held on to the bracket with screws to nut plates on the bracket. Now it is suspected from the bracket, with the screws going through the bracket to a plate nut (nut plate?) attached to tabs for each side of the radio. It just looks better this way.
