Finally some actually work on the airplane. I measured out an area for the rear spar uni directional splice (8 plys) and the upper wing skin seam layups (2 ply bid). The manual calls for removing the gel coat from the areas where the laminates are to be placed (better bond). I did this using a sanding disk on a small air grinder. The gel coat is fairly thick. The disk removes material in a hurry and must be held flat to the surface to reduce the chances of cutting into the laminates below.
