Brief Description:  Leading Edge Laminate - Fabric Cutting

Cut fabric strips for the leading edge close out. The layup schedule consists of four plys. Each ply will be made up of four tapes, 16 tapes total

We set up to cut the strips on the bias. This results in tapes about 73 inches long. This took some experimentation to figure out the best cutting method. We ended up using a straight board 75 inches long with a rubber mat (sold as shelf paper) spray glued to the bottom of the board. The rubber mat helps hold the cloth during cutting. A razor blade was used against the straight edge of the board to make the cuts. Each tape was then rolled up individually and a rubber band place around each one. The tapes were then bagged for use later.

Thanks Jill!
