Started looking at the status of the wing contruction. This part of the build is about twenty years old. First step is cleaning out all the wing bays. I used water and a scrub brush for this. After scrubbing away I used my wet and dry vacuum to suck up the water and dirt. Photo 1 shows one of the cleaner bays before I started. My kit began life as a tail dragger. I noticed that the wing had two sets of tiedown plates installed. The original TD config plates were not well done. There was also a mystery hole on the other side of the rib with a threaded insert wit ha star shaped base. The inboard RG plates look nice and will be retained. Photo 2 shows the two old inserts after I cut out and pried them loose. Picture three shows the area afte a little work wit the dremel. I now have to go back in and hand sand in preparation for the repair. I also removed the aileron bellcrank angles that can be seen in photo 2. They turned out to be well made so I will strip the rattle can primer off of these and have them anodized. I am doing the same with the actual aileron bellcranks. The right hand side will be retained and the left will be remade with a provision for an autopilot servo attach point.
