Brief Description: Standpipe Ring Fitting Installation
I layout and cut the four inch hole for installation of the ring fitting used to attach the fuel standpipe. I made a scribe line prior to wing close to ensure that I did not cut into the main spar web. The mark was used as a reference when laying out the hole. I started the cut with fly cutter. To give the fly cutter a better pilot I used bondo to glue a wood block to the upper wing skin. This worked for awhile but the block split and became useless. I finished the cutout per the instructions, using a hand razor saw. This was tedious. After the hole was cut I cleaned up the edges with a round permagrit stick. Then I relieved the foam core, sanded the skins and filled with mill fiber.
