Brief Description:  Gear Door #1 RH Side Rework

Pulled the bag on the recess layup done yesterday. It looked a little dry to me. Fit the wing skin to check clearance with the landing gear actuator. All is well. Removed RH main gear trunion. Prepped the nutplate retainers for bonding with mill fiber.

The RH gear door #1 interfered with the trunion blocking it from full extension on the RH gear. The LH gear had about .125 clearance. I measure the distance from the trunion on to the cutout on the left side and transferred the measurement to the RH side prior to removing the gear. I needed to cut out about 3/16" more to make both sides equal. The sure-locs inserts had already been installed on both side. To remove the inserts from the RH side in put the tip of a soldering iron into the insert. After it had been in about ten minutes I removed the iron and threaded in an AN3 bolt and started prying the inserts out. This worked good but it was still a bit of a battle. If anyone doubts the strength of this inserts in a a sandwich construction rest easy, they work. After the inserts were removed I used my Fein tool with a saw blade on it to cut to the previously marked line on the bottom skin. The Fein works really nice. I finished the cuts with a a razor saw. I then ground out the old insert holes with a perma grit stone and a dremel.
