Brief Description:  Wing Walk Reinforcement

I started the day by marking the three #2 gear door mounting holes on each main gear fork. I still need to drill and tap the holes for locking threaded inserts. Now down to business. I started the wing walk reinforcements by cutting a template of the desired cut out shape in 1/8 inch masonite. I used the template to mark the cutouts on the wing skins and cut the cloth for the reinforcments. I will also use it to cut the 18 pound foam. I cut the inner skins with my Fein tool which worked great. I scraped the foam out with some sharp wood chisels. I decided to vacuum bag this work which adds some time to the process. I got both skins prepped for the first laminates. I applied the first two laminates in the left hand wing, peel plyed and vacuum bagged the layout. I now have to wait for it to set up before proceeding with the RH skin. The LH skin was as delivered from Glasair. The RH skin had a previous builders version of the reinforcement done. I decided to redo it make the LH and RH skins the same. This area is actually visable from the main gear openings.
