Brief Description: Landing Gear Alignment and Wing Skin Fitting
I installed the wheels and brakes and swung the gear to the retracted position. I adjusted the actuator piston rod ends so that the gear will retract to the proper position. The limiting factor in the up position is the scissors hitting the C rib cut out. I am going to have to relieve the upper wing skins to clear the actuators in the retracted position (they swing proud of the wing skin). I also ran a string from wing tip to wing tip representing the spar location. I clamped straight edges (four foot levels to the half forks of the landing gear to make sure they were perpendicular to the spar (they were about perfect!). I also checked to make sure that the legs were perpendicular in the down position in both planes. As much as I love to redo things the gear legs measured very close to perfect. I am very pleased.
