Brief Description:  Pitch Trim Clamp, Elevator Counterweight

Cut 3/4" square 4130 tubing for the elevator counterweight. Drilled tubing for attachment to the elevator yoke (not built yet). I decided to sleeve the holes with 4130 tubing so that I can torque everthing down with crushing the tubing. The counterweight will have the sleeves welded in and then an end cap of .050 plate welded to close one end of the tube. The tube will then be filled with molten lead. By using the sleeves I won't have to drill the lead. I also cut out a kind of complicated piece of .050 4130 plate that will be used for attahing the pitch trim cartridge to the elevator pushrod. I used step drills to open up the holes in the plate prior to cutting out the plate. The step drills worked pretty slick. I used the mill to do the drilling, then band saw to rough, and disk and belt sanders to finish. The metal was good to me today.
