Brief Description:  Installed Upper Elevator Cable

To install the elevator cables, I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any interference with the seat at full-back stick (full up elevator).

I started by putting the control stick in what I thought to be the neutral position according to the plans. I am assuming that the plans are drawn with the stick neutral, but I haven't confirmed this with Bob Barrows. Mark Goldberg's plane seemed to have this issue when I went for the demo flight, and Bob did say that the stick should be adjusted so that it goes under the panel at full forward, that way you could get full up elevator.

It appeared that with the travel needed for full up and down elevator (about 2.25" at the cable on the bellcrank under the seats), the stick would hit the seat if it was all the way forward. I'm judging all the way forward by measuring 5" up from all the way back - since 5.5" is almost slipping out of the channels, and 6" is out of them (so I am only getting 5" of travel in the seat). I repositioned the stick slightly forward to compensate. I used a block of wood with a hole drilled in it to clamp the stick to the panel support tube. I also clamped the elevator at neutral (in-line with the stab). There is about an inch of adjustment in the cable turnbuckles if you start with them about half-way, so I can get some adjustment in stick position.

After I was satisfied with the stick position and travel, I made the upper control cable.
