Brief Description:  Mounted Brakes on LH gear

Drilled holes in flange on left-hand landing gear and installed brake mounting/torque plate. After the first one, this one was no-sweat. But it was a little different - the welds have a little shape variation from the other gear, so the close-fit areas are different. I guess that's why homebuilts are custom!

I decided to go with a bolt at each of the caliper slides and one on the opposite side on both of these gear legs. The bolts are primarily loaded in shear (due to braking torque) when the brakes are applied, and are just there to keep the calipers from falling off when they're not in use, so three bolts should be plenty. The brakes are rated at 7800 in-lbs of torque, or 650 ft-lbs. This is about 2000# on each bolt in shear, and the bolts are good for about 7000# each - a 3.5 factor of safety!
