Received my new 10" tailwheel from Scott Weinberg of Iron Designs today - it's really a work of art! - Thanks Scott!!
It's the "Bob Wheel" as designed by Bob Barrows, with construction improvements by Mr. Weinberg. I feel that this design is much better than the common Scott 3200 or Maule Tundra designs which are the others rated for the Bearhawk's 2500# gross weight. The Bob Wheel has more caster length (or whatever the technical name for it is) - which is basically the normal (sort of like perpendicular) distance between the pivot axis (shaft) and the wheel axis (axle). The Scott and Maule wheels are a good bit shorter in this area than the Bob Wheel, and can be prone to shimmy if they get worn and are under light load. I don't think this wheel will have that tendency. My $0.02 - but hey, it's my airplane - right?
