Brief Description:  Turtle deck assembly (Model III turtledeck)

6 people working for approximately 2 1/2 hours. Work continued on the turtledeck. Our project came with an "old" turtledeck and a "new" one. The new one has the updated part numbers (5 digit numbers) while the old one uses the old "CF" for cover and finish part numbers. The new one also has windows that are about 50% bigger than the older ones. We made the decision that we would first put together the old turtledeck so that we could experiment and learn - and after that we would put together the new one. This is the first time we are working with Lexan so we wanted to get some practice under our belts before we started work on the final parts. We have a similar plan with the windshield. We have an old and new one of those as well.
We have all the parts to do both and this week we started to cut the lexan windows to shape. We are using a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade and will be sanding the edges when we are finished to try and remove all the stress risers the jigsaw blade is bound to create. We also experimented with drilling holes. Regular drill bits seemed to work just fine without causing any cracking or irregular holes. All in all - a good night!
