Disassembled and modified a stock Whelan A555 light assembly to accept my new Perihelion LED tail light unit. Cut off all but about 1/2" of shroud. (The instructions say to cut it all off, but leaving a bit of the flange appears to help keep the LED unit aligned and supported better.)
The Parahelion LED nav light assembly fits right inside a stock Whelen strobe cover. Way cool.
The Whelan unit must be trimmed way down to almost nothing. All you end up using is just the flange.
