This first measurements of clearances using a test stand and dummy engine was used primarily to determine the extent of accessories. Later we found that some engine installations exhibited a real problem with magneto to engine mount clearances on the right side. Some installations had as little as a 16th of an inch clearance between magneto and the mount. No consistent reason for this discrepancy can be found at this time. It is suspected that a change in personnel fabricating the mount may be at the root of the problem.
