Brief Description: Drilled Skin to longerons, mounted firewall
Reworked curves at the bottom of the side skin so they match up better with the bottom skins. Clecoed the curves to the bottom. Clamped skins to longerons on right side first. Began drilling all holes from skin to longeron starting from the aft as directed. Clamped and drilled all the way to the hole just aft of the aft F904 bulkhead. Repeated same on left side. Checked the length of the longerons at the front. Had to trim to get distance of 3/4" aft of the forward edge of the side skin. Clamped longeron from the F904 forward on the right side and began to drill holes. Needed to adjust bend in longeron to follow skin accurately which it did pretty nicely. Repeated the process on the left side. Fabricated the F904-L attach strips. Placed firewall in place and clamped o longeron. Needed to trim the longeron again to get a good fit. Drew a centerline on the bottom firewall angle flange. But not before having to spend about a half hour trying to figure out the directions. Looked up a couple other builders on the 'net and finally figured it out. Clecoed on the forward F904 bulkhead followed by the F972 forward bottom skin. Located centerline of firewall flange to the bottom skin and drilled and clecoed 2 holes as directed. Placed rivets in skin to longerons to hold alignment. Measured forward face of firewall and clamped in place 5/8" of an inch aft of the forward edge of the side skins. Clamped the right longeron angle to the Wd602 brackett. Checked the alignment once more and it was good. Drilled the side skin to the side firewall flange and clecoed in place. Next I drilled the skin/longeron to the Wd602 bracket. Clecoed in place. Repeated process on the left side. Quit for the day before I messed anything up.
