Brief Description: HS-1203 spar arrived - completed steps passed over
Vans really delivers. Only a week ago I contacted them about the missing aft spar for the stabilizer and it arrived today packaged in a very impressive shipping tube from FedEx.
Ended up spending the evening going back a few steps in section 9 to complete things that I had to pass over without the spar. Managed to do some machine counter-sinking, fitting of the horns and match drilling them, also fitted the counter balance arm and its brackets. Managed to counter-sink the eight nutplates left to install in the spars, but it was getting late so I'll debur and prime the new spar the next time I get into the garage (likely on the weekend as we have a soccer game tomorrow night) Certainly expect to finish the stabilizer over Memorial Day weekend.
Yesterday, the torque wrench I ordered from Sears arrived. Tried it out and it seems very straightforward to work with. And today, the torque seal I ordered from Aircraft Spruce also arrived so I'll be able to begin torquing all the bolts in the spar and vertical tail that I was unable to do so when they were originally installed.
Will likely order the wing kit early next week so that I can start it in August.
