Today I got the engine mounted. First I mounted the governor then I realized that I needed to get the engine on the mount so that I could see how the other components were going to interfere with each other.
After the nose gear was installed I hoisted the engine and installed the Lord mounts. That sounds easy if you say it real fast. It did go pretty well. I was able to position the engine, compress the mounts and install all of the bolts. The bolts are snug but not torqued at this time. I am going to install metal lock nuts instead of the castle nuts. This is common with certified aircraft and acceptable to Vans. Easier on me as well.
