This is one item that I has been on the back burner for awhile. A couple of years ago I noticed that one of the elevator's trailing edge was about 1/4" lower than the other. I purposely waited until the date that the rudder needed to be removed prior to the move to the airport. The right elevator was removed, the elevator protected from welding splatters, and the hole was welded up.
I made a wooden spacer with an aluminum drill bushing installed. Successfully drilled the elevator hole and the horizontal stabilizer is hanging in the shop ready to go to the airport.
