Brief Description:  Rework wing tip

Spent the better part of the day redoing the nut plates on the nav light wing tip. The instructions that came with the manual recommended using JB weld to hold the nutplates on behind the plexiglass wing tip lens. I went to install and they did not hold. I either did not properly prepare the fiberglass or that is why every other plane that I see has them riveted on. I riveted them on. I also installed nut plates to hold on the nav lights and reflective backing.

I polished the aluminum reflective backing and then sprayed with clear coat. The clear coat fogged and looked like crap. The can that I had was very old and I do not know if that was the problem or the humidity got to it. My thermostat says that it is 55% humidity. I will polish them back to bright aluminum and get a new can for tomorrow.

I like the tool that I got for installing nut plates. I got a set of eight used on eBay for $30. What a deal.
