Brief Description:  Catching up!

Excuse me for being behind--Oshkosh took a lot of my time. We worked the first two Thursdays in July, with 5 students the first day and 3 the second. This was mostly on the skeletons and first skins on the left wing. Since we left for Oshkosh on the 21st, there was no work that day or the 28th.

The Oshkosh trip was wonderful! Five of the students attended, plus the teacher for a couple of days. I took two up on Thursday the 21st, and Andy brought three on Monday. He brought the original two back on Wednesday. The rest came back with me on Saturday. Tuesday was our biggest day. We had a forum that day with the crew from Teen Flight from Oregon. It was poorly attended due to poor publicity. What does "Organizing a YACP" mean anyway? Youth Aircraft Construction Project is the answer, but few figured that out.

In the evening we attended Van's banquet. Thanks for the tickets, BTW. One of our students spoke and did a great job. We had one-half page in the Airventure newspaper that day, also.
the kids became celebrities! They met many fine people.

The big news is we are joining forces with "Friends of the RV-1." This non-profit organization is redirecting a large part of their efforts into promoting aviation in schools. I am thrilled!! Stay tuned for more info, or contact me to recieve our newsletter.

Thursday we began skinning the left wing. We plan to finish next week in time to display it at oour Airport Awareness Day on Saturday. It will be done, or at least very close.
