Brief Description:  Modified Engine Stand for Lycoming Crank

I was getting ready to build a vertical engine stand to start the teardown of an engine core I purchased for my project last week. The engine came from a Long EZ prop strike incident that happened in 2011. I bought the engine from a friend of a friend on the condition that the crank was good or repairable.

My friend and A&P at work offered up a stand that he made for his Continental. I took him up on it and drilled two additional holes in the stand to accomodate Lycoming prop flange bolt circle. The Flange on the stand was 1/2" thick steel plate so it took a minute! I also made a 3/4" plywood spacer to put between the stand and the crank flange. I received a prop extension and a crush plate with the engine. I used the crush plate as a pattern to make the wood spacer on the router table.
